K.V.No.1, Chandimandir


	The following competitions / events were held in the Vidyalaya in the month of October and November 08 :-
	.Diwali Card and Diya competition Held on 21-10-2008.
	11th November was celebrated as National Educational Day on the eve of Birth Anniversay of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. In a solemn function organized on the occasion, Brig A.R.A Sah ,Brig APS,HQ Western Command and Chairman ,Vidyalaya management Committee, garlanded the portrait of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and the Principal ,Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur paid floral tributes to the first Education Minister of Independent India.
	14th November was celebrated as Children’s Day on the eve of birth anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. . A vibrant function was organized for the students of primary section at cluster level of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan ,Chandigarh Region. As many as 80 children from K.V.No.1 Chandimandir,K.V.NO.2 ,Chandimandir ,K.V. ITBP Bhanu and KV CRPF Pinjore participated in Inter-School group song and folk dance competitions with remarkable zeal and enthusiasm. In the secondary section a 10-over cricket match was played between classes XII Humanities and XII Science.
	Teachers' Day was celebrated on 5th Sept 2008: Morning assembly was conducted by teachers. Principal lighted the lamp of knowledge and paid floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan, the great teacher & philospher. The pupil teachers greeted the teachers. The principal highlighted the role of teacher as a mentor of society. After that there was teaching by pupil teachers for 5 periods. In the second half interseyting games were organised and program was prsented by students of Class-XII
	The following competitions / events were held in the Vidyalaya in the month of August 08 :- 62 nd Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour in the Vidyalaya premises. The function began at 8.15 am with flag hoisting by the Principal, Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur, followed immediately by National Anthem. A vibrant cultural programme dotted by patriotic songs and poems was presented by the students on the auspicious occasion. The Principal addressed the gathering and highlighted the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters in the struggle for freedom and inspired the students to contribute their bit towards the progress of India. 90 students from Vidyalaya participated in 'Run for Fun' organised by Chandimandir Cantt. Neha of X-B stood first and Ashmeen of X-B stood second in the event and bagged attractive prizes. Cluster Level Social Science Exhibition 2008-09 was held at K.V. OCF Sec 29-B Chd on 02-08-08 Debate Competition: Suditi of Class XI-A stood first, speaking against the motion and Pragya of class XI-A stood third, speaking for the motion. Quiz Competition: Ashish of Class XII-A and Abhijit of class X-A stood first. Rakhi Making Competition for all the students was held on August 2, 2008. Some Scouts and guides attended Tritiya Sopan held at K. V. Zirakpur from 9 August to 11 August 2008. The following students have been selected for Regional Level Social Science Exhibition 2008-09:Debate Competition: Suditi of Class XI-A Quiz Competition: Ashish of Class XII-A and Abhijit of class X-A
	The following competitions / events were held in the Vidyalaya in the month of July 2008 :- Class-wise English Poem Recitation Competition was held on July 26, 2008. A Workshop for Primary teachers was held at K.V. No. 1 Chandimandir Cantt. from 12.07.08-14.07.08 34 teachers participated. The main agenda was- Use of ICT in classroom transaction. Constructivist approach of teaching. Measurement and evaluation with special focus on setting up of reliable and valid question paper at various levels in different subject areas. Grading competencies at primary level. Designing and conduct of group activities. Developing classroom based projects. Drawing and Colouring Competition for the students of classes I and II was held on July 5, 2008. Slogan Writing Competition for the students of classes III to V was held on July 5, 2008. Many Scouts and guides attended Dwitya Sopan held at K.V. Palampur from July 1 to July 3, 2008.
	Annual Day function was held at Gen Manekshaw Auditorium in Chandimandir Cantt. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Maj Gen Rajesh Pant VSM, CSO, HQ Western Command.Mrs.Vandana Pant gave away prizes to meritorious students The Principal, Ms. Narinder Mohini presented the Annual Report for the academic session 2007-08. Sh. Rajiva Lochan, EO(RO) Chandigarh, graced the occasion and Col Sunil Kala, Commander 12 Signal Group and Chairman, VMC, was the Guest of Honour. A vibrant cultural programmee presented on the occasion was applauded by one and all.
	School closed for summer vacation w.e.f 5th May2008 and will re-open on 23rd June 2008
	In-service Training Course for Primary Teachers will be held in the Vidyalaya from 5th to 16th May 2008.
	Bi-regional Sports Meet in Kabaddi, Cricket U/16, Cricket U/19 was held from 17.09.2007 to 18.09.2007 between Chandigarh Region and Jammu Region.
	Chandigarh Region won all the three games and qualified for the National KVS Sports meet 2007 to be held at Bhopal
	Games & Sports Regional meet in Handball (boys)was organized on 25th ,26th & 27th of Aug .07.Eight teams from Chandigarh Region participated .
	Coaching camp for U/16& U/19 in Cricket & Kabbadi for Boys commenced on 8.9.07 which will culminated in Bi- Regional competitions between Chandigarh & Jammu Region .The winner teams will play in the Nationals.
	The first CCA competition was (30.4.07) Calligraphy Hindi & English where in all the students participated .The best three students were selected from each class.
	Vidyalaya organized its Annual Prize Distribution on 3rd May, 2007 at Manekshaw auditorium .Major Gen. P.C. Kharbanda, SM, was the Chief Guest ,Col Sunil Kala , Chairman , VMC was the guest of honour . Sh. J.P. Gupta, E.O, KVS ,R.O. ,CR. represented the regional office .The cultural bonanza was presented by the students and won accolades from the audience.
	An in service course for primary teachers was organized from 7th to 18th May. Approximately 50 teachers attended the seminar. Chemistry workshop was organized from 10.8.07 to 12.08.07.Around 50 teachers took part in the seminar.
	On 7.7.07 after summer vacation an Inter House GK Quiz was organized to test the all round knowledge of students On 7th July, drawing competition was held.
	Inter house display board & class decoration competitions were held in the month of July ,07.
	Vidyalaya celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm on 15.8.07 Patriotic songs , dances & speeches were the main attractions . Students were highly delighted to receive sweets on the occasion.
	Rakhi making & painting competitions were held class wise in August, 07. Students of class 3rd to 5th took part in drawing & painting competition arranged by Kotak (Insurance ).On 18th August English poem recitation was organized.
	Exhibits prepared for Social Science. & Science exhibitions were shown to Vidyalaya students at Vidyalaya level exhibitions in August 07.Km. Sumedha of class XI A participated in contest at National Level at KV I Bhuvnashwar in Social Science exhibition.
	Students took part & won prizes in AWWA raising day celebrations marked by declamation ,painting ,debate competitions .Suditi Sinha of X A ,Hazal of XI A & Sangeeta of V A won first ,third & first positions respectively .
	On 5th September Teachers' day was celebrated with great pomp and show. Pupil teachers took over the reins of Vidyalaya .Glowing tributes were paid to Dr. Radha Krishnan in an impressive function held in the morning .The Pupil Teachers felicitated their role models on the occasion .
	Inauguration of 'Hindi Pakhwara' was on 14.09.07. Principal, Mrs. Narinder Mohini presided over the function .Inter- House Hindi Poem recitation for Junior & Senior students was organized on the occasion.
	On 15.09.07 Hindi poem recitation was held for primary section.
